On Monday night, April 18, the Portuguese actor and his partner Georgina Rodriguez shared the sad news, saying that only the birth of a healthy twin baby girl had given them “the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

The former Juventus striker was unable to play against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night after United granted him compassionate leave to spend time with his family.

‘Of course, this is the worst that can happen,’ caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick said. As a father of two sons, I understand exactly what you’re saying.

‘We’re all behind him, we’re all rooting for him, and we wish him and his family the best of luck.’

‘Everyone at Manchester United and indeed the football world is sending love to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family, after the club legend made a heart-breaking announcement on Monday evening,’ read a statement from the club earlier.

‘Family comes first, and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones during this extremely difficult time.

‘As a result, we can confirm that he will not play in Liverpool’s match at Anfield, and we reiterate the family’s request for privacy.’ We’re all thinking of you, Cristiano, and sending our best wishes to you and your family.’
