The Free Nigeria Movement has condemned the reported refusal to allow the All Progressives Congress, APC, access to electoral materials in Delta State’s just ended governorship election.

The group stated that the PDP was seeking to conceal apparent “manipulation” in the poll.

Sheriff Oborevwori, a PDP candidate, was proclaimed the victor of the March 18 election with 360,234 votes. Oborevwori defeated APC candidate Ovie Omo-Agege, who received 240,229 votes.

However, the APC and its candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenged the election results, claiming that the results were not collated in accordance with the 2022 electoral legislation.

The APC said it has evidence that the process was characterised by irregularities and that the people of the state were denied the right to freely express their will.

It, however, decried that the state government led by Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP is frustrating its efforts to access the electoral materials.

Reacting to the development, leader of the group, Moses Paul, said warned courts must never be used as an instrument to fuel the desperation of politicians and their surrogates.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, Moses called for the immediate release of all electoral materials to the APC in Delta State.

According to Moses, “As a group, we will continue to demand that the right thing be done to save our democracy and nation from collapse. The walls of tolerance, cohesion, and inclusion that turned during the 2023 general elections must be rebuilt. One way to begin is through justice.

“Therefore, attempts to deny the APC access to electoral materials in Delta State, is most disgraceful and unfortunate.

“We are a country of laws and must remain within the law in all our dealings. People must never be gagged from pursuing legitimate causes to prove their case. We call for the immediate release of all electoral materials to the APC in Delta State.

“The courts must never be used as an instrument to fuel the desperation of politicians and their surrogates.”
